The concept behind Lightwork Designs come from the precious moments of being a child and having those first mystical interactions with nature. The Redwood forests where I grew up left such strong impressions on my spirit as a little one that still shape me as an artist and human today. My father brought us to the forest to explore, run, play and imagine ourselves as the creatures that we are. He knew the power and magic of these incredible trees, and believed time spent there was as important as any day spent in school.
In a desire to translate and share this experience, Lightwork Designs was born. I make the boxes by hand, sometimes with accompaniment of my dad. We use reclaimed wood and each one is unique to itself. They come from the love of place, bringing the magic of the Redwoods home with you.
Shannon O’Neill Creighton is a visual artist working primarily as a landscape photographer. Her interest in the photographic arts began at age ten with her exposure to black and white darkroom photography. Shannon grew up in West Marin, an hour northwest of San Francisco. From early on, she developed and challenged herself by intimately engaging with the outdoors, much of which she did with her camera in hand. This lifelong relationship with nature continues to serve as a primary shaping force in Shannon’s life and artwork.
Shannon presently lives in West Sonoma County where she works as freelance artist and highshool photography teacher.
